Today, ASHP introduced our new logo and tagline to our members during the opening session of our Summer Meetings.

This new visual identity is a significant departure from our previous logo and better represents ASHP’s mission and vision, which states that medication use will be optimal, safe, and effective for all people all of the time.

ASHP’s identity is extremely important on a number of fronts. First and foremost, to be most successful in helping our members advance practice, serve their patients, and reach their professional goals, ASHP must continue to be a strong organization–strong in members and in actions. Aligning our visual identity with who we are as an organization better allows us to achieve these goals. It also helps key stakeholders, including government officials and other healthcare organizations, better understand the role that our members play in advancing healthcare.

Our organization was created nearly 75 years ago, and clearly a lot has changed in healthcare during that time. ASHP has worked hard to respond to and anticipate these changes. When ASHP was founded in 1942, our members practiced in traditional hospital settings. Today, ASHP represents over 40,000 pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians who serve as patient care providers on healthcare teams in acute and ambulatory care settings. And it’s important that our brand reflects this evolution of practice.

A lot of thought went into the development of this new logo and tagline. We kept the color blue, but made it much brighter and more vibrant. We chose a bold, italicized font to represent that ASHP is a vibrant organization, and a symbol that indicates we are always moving forward to advance practice. And our new tagline, “Pharmacists Advancing Healthcare,” best represents the pharmacist’s role as an integral member of the healthcare team in hospitals, health systems, and clinics.

I hope you are as excited as I am about this change; not just for the great new look, but for how it signifies ASHP’s commitment to our members and our patients.

I invite you to learn more about ASHP’s new logo and tagline and check the great video about it at ashp.org/brand.

Again, thank you for everything you do for your patients and for pharmacy.
